In this 9 days from Fes to Marrakech desert tour, we will visit Fes with a local guide. Fes is the former capital of Morocco and is located in the center of the Atlas Mountains. We will also travel to Azrou, where we will visit the Cedar Forest and Midelt. Imtghren.

The best 9 days Fes to Marrakech desert tour will be started by transferring you to your hotel/Riad after a warm welcome at the airport of Fes Sais.

Having breakfast is followed by visiting Fez’s sightseeing accompanied by a local guide. During your journey, you will explore Fez El Bali (the old city) which returns to the 9th century. The tour includes visiting the first university in the World Al-Karaouine, souks, a leather market, a Royal place, and other monuments.

Continuing the tour, the destination will be Merzouga. On your journey, you will visit some places and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of the range High Atlas Mountains.  Ifrane (Switzerland of Morocco) is a city we will travel through. Before we reach Midelt where we will have dinner, we will visit Cedar Forest (the largest forest in Morocco). In this forest with the big trees, you will watch Berber apes.

After we pass by Ziz Valley which is known for its palm trees, we will reach Merzouga. At the hotel, you will take a short break before riding camels to camp in the Erg Chebbi sand desert (the largest sand desert in Morocco). Over the dunes, you will enjoy the beautiful sunset and capture some brilliant photos of it. Under the endless stars in a traditional tent, you will have dinner and listen to Berber music.

You’ll return to the hotel, where you will have breakfast and a shower after you enjoy the amazing sunrise over the dunes. The tour proceeds to explore Erg Chebbi whose dunes’ latitude is over 150m. During the journey, you will cross the Paris-Dakar rally’s track.

After a stop at the fabulous oasis of Tissardmin, you will head to visit a nomad family and try a Saharan min tea with them and observe their lifestyle. From a spot, you will experience watching the entire desert of Erg Chebbi. At the village of Khamlia, you will enjoy yourself listening to Gnawa music and sharing a cup of tea with them. You will have a delicious Berber pizza for lunch before you go back to your hotel where the night will be spent.

Rissani is the destination after having breakfast. The large Souks are what Rissani (traditional markets) is famous for. After that, we will head to explore the interesting work-shops of fossils in Erfoud (where the Festival of Dates is held every year).

The ninth day of the tour resumes visiting Todra Gorges, where you’ll have lunch, after traveling through the palm trees of Tinejdad and Touroug. Todgha Gorges are a series of limestone river canyons. Most visitors enjoy hiking in the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. In the afternoon, you leave Todra Gorges toward Boumalne Dades where you will have dinner and stay in the night.

After having breakfast and exploring are series of rugged wadi gorges carved out by the Dades River and the majestic sand castles of Dades Valley, we will make the way to Kasbah of Ait Youl to appreciate its wonderful landscapes. While you are there, you’ll have visit to one of the families that live in caves in Boutaghrar. Klaat M’Gouna (the Valley of Roses) is the next place you visit.

Here, you will have lunch in the village. Skoura’s oasis will be the direction. It is known for its huge number of palm trees. We will continue our journey to visit Amridil Kasbah, which was built in the 17th century, before we reach Ouarzazate where you will spend the overnight at the hotel.

Today’s program will be devoted to exploring Ouarzazate. You will visit Kasbah of Touarirt, Kasbah of Tifoultoute, and Cinema Studios. After that, we continue the journey to visit the magical Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has served as a place to film many movies like Gladiator, and The Prince of Persia.

After having lunch, we will be going back to Marrakech traveling through Tizi N’Tichka pass. It is 2260 meters high over the high Atlas. On your way, you will observe the process through which Argan oil is made after visiting a Cooperative Berber woman. After arriving at Marrakech, you will spend the night at the hotel.

After having breakfast at the hotel, day number eight of the tour continues to visit the interesting Marrakech sightseeing counting the fascinating Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs (return to the the17th century), Bahia Palace which is a 19th-century still-standing monument, Majorelle Gardens ( that was created by a French artist in  1929) and Menara Gardens that was built in the 12th-century.
