Morocco has been the most visited nation in North Africa in recent years, and it is one of the safest countries in the world, with over 10 million tourists in the past few years. Generally seen as a secure destination and the terrorist attacks are thankfully rare in Morocco compared to France, Belgium, and the UK. As a traveler, you are unlikely to be assaulted or seriously hurt because there is a low level of crime, and the Moroccan government has raised infrastructure investment and security measures to attract more visitors and provide more security

There is really no time of year when you wouldn’t enjoy your trip to Morocco; although you should keep in mind that it tends to get a little too crowded with tourists during the winter holidays season. Then it’s up to you to decide what season suits you the best to come to visit, according to your schedule and preferences. The weather in Morocco is more on the mild side during Spring and Autumn (from March to May and from September to November respectively).

For these reasons, the temperatures could be ranging anywhere from 11° to 32°C. Winter usually lasts from December to February, with a relatively low-temperature range (7° to 21°C). You should also expect to see snowfall in Morocco’s mountainous regions. As for Summer (from June to August), temperatures can land anywhere between 19°C and 40°C in the middle of the day.

The 4 days tour from Fes to Marrakech via Desert Merzouga is the ideal Fes to Marrakech itinerary includes stops in Azrou, the Merzouga Sahara Desert, the Erg Chebbi Dunes for a camel trek, and an overnight stay in a desert camp, where visitors can meet nomadic people, as well as the Todra Gorges, Ouarzazate, and the Ait ben Haddou Kasbah.

It is highly advised to do this 4-day Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech via the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. The itinerary includes a camel trek, a night in a desert tent, and two nights in the Sahara desert (the first in a hotel).

Before we leave Fez toward Merzouga, we will have breakfast. On your way, you will travel through Ifrane city( Switzerland of Morocco). Proceeding the tour, you will stop at Cedar Forest. It is a woodland area in the Middle Atlantic. Cèdre Gouraud Forest exists between Azrou and Ifrane. In this place, you will be able to see trees climbed by the Berber apes and different kinds of birds.

Midelt (the capital of apples) is another city your day will be going through. The next place will be Ziz Valley where you will explore the abandoned Kasbahs in the Berber Villages. Ziz Valley is known for its palm groves and the variety of crops. After arriving in Merzouga, you will spend the night at a hotel where you will have dinner.

Taking a 4×4 you will be discovering Merzouga’s area. On this 2nd day, you will visit Gnawa village where you will enjoy a Saharan mint tea with one of the families. There, you will observe their lifestyle and listen to Gnawa music which is a well-known style of music with a plentiful repertory of ancient African Islamic spiritual religious songs and rhythms.

The tour continues to have a nice visit to the nomad families in their tents discovering their way of living. Lunch will be in a Berber village. Riding camelback in the afternoon, you will head to camp in the heart of the Sahara desert where you will have dinner and spend the night in a nomad tent.

After we wake up early to witness the amazing sunrise over the sand dunes, we will go back to Merzouga to have breakfast and take a shower at the hotel. Retaking the tour, we will travel through Saghra Mountain (south of the High Atlas Mountains). The accommodation and dinner will be in Boulmane Dades, where the majestic sand castles and monkey toes (a fascinating rock formation) are a point of attraction for tourists, after visiting Todra Gorges (the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco).

Ouarzazate is the next destination after having breakfast. On the way, you will explore the road of a thousand Kasbahs and Skoura’s palm trees. Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is one of the interesting places you will visit in Ouarzazate. It is one the UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites (built by Et Hami El Glaoui in the 18th century). It served as the location for making many movies including Babel, the Lawrance of Arabia, The Secret of Sahara, and Légionnaire. After having lunch, you will be on your way to Marrakech traveling through the High Atlas Mountains. On this 4th day, the tour comes to an end.
