The best of 7 days Fes to Marrakech Desert tour will begin when we start exploring Fez city after we pick you up from the airport. Fez is considered the cultural and spiritual center of Morocco. In the 12th century, It was founded by Sultan Idriss I. It served as the capital city of the Al Mowahad dynasty for years.
Fez is one of the prominent four cities in Morocco and among the largest Arabic cities. On our journey, we will stroll through the alleys of the city, visit Madrassa, explore Souks ( traditional markets where you can find different kinds of spices for selling), Karaouine University (the first established university in the world), Mosques, Plazas, and museums. The Riad is where you will stay at night.
After breakfast at your riad, you meet your local guide, and the exploration of Fes begins. You start with the Royal Palace, founded back to the foundation of the new Fes. Then, Mellah, the Jewish quarter, where you see a 17th-century synagogue. Also, The University of al Qarawiyyin, founded as a mosque, then became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world.
As well as Chouara Tannery, the largest and oldest in the Medina quarter of the city, surrounded by leather shops with terraces from where you look down onto the pits. Furthermore, you will take a walk around the old souks (markets) of Fes, and wander between the narrow alleys of the old Medina. Have an amazing lunch in one of the narrow streets in the heart of the old Medina.
Today’s program will be visiting Erg Chebbi (the largest desert in Morocco). During the journey, we will explore Khamlia’s town. Exploring the area, we will visit a nomad family where you can observe their lifestyle. By a 4×4 we will head to camp in the Sahara desert in a nomad tent under the endless stars.
The tour continues after having breakfast toward Rissani, where the largest Souks in Morocco, and the old Sijilmassa which was a place of trading caravans from the Sahar. On your journey, you will enjoy the breathtaking oasis of Tinghir. After that, we travel through Todra Gorges which are the narrowest and highest gorges in Morocco with an elevation of 2260m.
The next destination is Ouarzazate after we travel through the fantastic Road of Thousand Kasbahs. Ouarzazate is known also as the Hollywood of Africa for it has witnessed many international cinematic activities such as Gladiator, The Mumy, and Troy. Kasbah of Taourirt is the last we visit before we head to the hotel to have dinner and spend the night.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou is the next place we will visit after having breakfast. It is one of the most prominent and magical kasbahs in Morocco. Later on, we head to explore the amazing Kasbah of Telouet (an old palace of the El Glaoui family. The tour resumes to Marrakech passing through the famous pass of Tizi N’Tichka (2260m high over the High Atlas Mountains). At the Riad in Marrakech, you will stay at night.
On the 6th day of the tour, you will be exploring Marrakech (the red city). During your journey, you will visit Menara Gardens which were built in the 12th century by the Almohad Caliphate. Saadian tombs return to the 17th century. the Bahia Palace (a 19th-century monument). Koutoubia mosque is one of the largest mosques in Morocco. The blue Majorelle Gardens.
We will also visit the well-known and large square of Jamaa El Fnaa. Local people and tourists share this place for entertainment. They can, for example, enjoy watching Gnoua dancers, listening to the storytellers, passing by water sellers, enjoying the handicrafts, and watching snake charmers and jugglers. This never sleeps. It is full of life during more than daylight. At a local Riad, you will spend the night.
