The 4 days tour from Marrakech to Fes offers the opportunity to see Kasbahs, ancient villages, the Atlas Mountains, palm groves, the Todra and Dades Gorges, the Sahara Desert, and a camel trek that ends with an overnight stay at a desert camp beneath the stars. Meet nomads while watching the sunset over the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.

Your adventure begins with a dramatic ascent of the High Atlas Mountains, winding through the Tizi n’Tichka pass where the peaks often remain snow-capped well into spring. You’ll stop at the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning example of southern Moroccan architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site that has starred in countless Hollywood films. After exploring its labyrinthine alleys, you’ll continue through Ouarzazate and the fragrant Valley of the Roses. As the sun begins to set, you’ll enter the Dades Valley, where the red rock walls glow intensely.
After breakfast, the journey continues toward the Todra Gorge, a massive fault in the plateau where a crystal-clear river separates two 300-meter-high limestone cliffs. It is a breathtaking place for a morning stroll. From there, the landscape shifts from green palmeries to the arid beauty of the pre-Sahara, passing through the fossil-rich town of Erfoud. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Merzouga, where the massive Erg Chebbi dunes appear on the horizon. You will trade your vehicle for a camel caravan, trekking deep into the golden sands to watch the sunset before spending a magical night in a Berber camp under a canopy of endless stars.
Today is dedicated to the secrets of the Sahara. You’ll travel by 4×4 to explore the outskirts of the dunes, visiting the village of Khamlia to experience the rhythmic, soulful music of the Gnawa people. Later, you’ll head across the “hamada” (black desert) to sit with a nomadic family in their wool tents, sipping traditional mint tea and learning about their resilient way of life.
The final leg of your journey is a scenic drive northward that showcases Morocco’s incredible geographical diversity. You’ll start by following the Ziz River, which creates a massive ribbon of green palms through the desert canyon. After crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains and stopping for lunch in the apple-growing town of Midelt, you’ll enter the cool, high-altitude Cedar Forests of Azrou. Here, you can watch for Barbary macaques playing in the trees. After a quick stop in Ifrane, a town known for its European-style chalets, you’ll descend into the ancient imperial city of Fes by early evening.
